Monster King Throne Room Can't believe it's been almost a week since I last posted anything new! (Tons of assignments this week) Not to worry, I'm going to be killing it this weekend to make up for lost time!
This is the final frame of a short digital animation test for class. The bkg and animation were done by hand, scanned into Photoshop and Flipbook for paints, then composited and final rendered with Combustion.
The first of a series of Weekly class drawing challenges. Each week, we pick a topic and a character design project to do. The first topic was my choice. Next one is "The Runaway" and an original Pirate design with props.
Sample from an early character design assignment. We had to sculpt 5 heads with plasticine and then draw them accurately from multiple positions. Some people used Sculpey to make them super smooth, but I like mine crazy and deformed, like the big guy from Goonies! BRANCH.
This layout started as just a background to today's daily composition, but I ended up really liking it just as it is. So I cleaned it up and I will just add the characters as overlays.
This is a frame from a digital animation test that I'm working on for class. The character will complete a continuous walkcycle while the background pans behind him. It will be composited using Flipbook.
Jack (from "Jack in the Beanstalk") done in an early 1900's newsboy style. Hansel (from "Hansel and Gretel") who's clearly been eating too many gingerbread men!
The hero of the "Brave Little Tailor" done in a modern, Saturday morning style.
